¿Por qué el CO2 es no polar?
Las moléculas polares tienen un momento dipolar neto distinto de cero. Tanto el CO2 como el H2O tienen dos enlaces polares. Sin embargolos dipolos en la molécula lineal de CO2 se anulan entre sí, lo que significa que la molécula de CO2 es no polar.
Ejemplos de moléculas polares sonHCl, H2O, NH3, y el de las moléculas no polares son H2,O2,Cl2.
Además, para determinar la polaridad de un enlace, debe encontrar la diferencia de electronegatividad de los átomos involucrados. Además, si la diferencia está entre 0,4 y 1,7, el enlace parecerá polar. Pero si la diferencia es mayor que eso, entonces el enlace tendrá un carácter iónico.
